Dentist Al-issa Determined To Live His ‘forestation’ Dream
In the desert of Kuwait, on an area of 25 thousand square meters, the Kuwaiti dentist Dr. Issa Al-Issa has set out to realize his dream of planting trees and turning Kuwait’s ‘wasteland’ into the first fruitful forest in the country.
In a statement to Al-Qabas, Al-Issa said Kuwait’s need for forestation and attention to agriculture is no different than human need to paying attention to health and education, because trees contribute to the promotion of human health in the first place, and help reduce many diseases, in addition to achieving food security, which is the backbone of life.
With this belief, Al-Issa says, he is determined to achieve his ambition two years after doing research and reading a lot, in addition to the studies he conducted on sustainable agriculture and the cultivation of food-producing forests, and his experiments on 2,000 trees in Kuwait.
Al-Issa pointed to the challenges that hinder planting forests in Kuwait, including the harsh desert climate, the hard layer of sandy soil, water scarcity and overgrazing, but he stressed all these obstacles can be overcome.
Al-Issa thanked the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs for its support to this vital environmental project, hoping that the Ministry of Public Works will benefit from the treated water in sustainable agriculture.
