Cybersecurity Team Formed By Moe To Protect Information Systems

As cyber threats and phishing activities increase on government websites, the Ministry of Education has urged its Information Systems Department to establish a working team to inspect security systems, monitor changes, and ensure information security and confidentiality.

Under the leadership of the Chief of the Information Systems Department, Eng. Muhammad Al-Ali, and comprising 10 engineers, has been charged with assessing the security and confidentiality of information and files of all automated systems, networks, communication systems, and main servers of the ministry, including the main page of the Ministry of Education’s website, in addition to conducting a periodic monitoring of the Ministry of Education’s network, as well as setting appropriate procedures for authorized login from inside and outside the ministry’s network and main servers.

In addition, the team has been charged with creating a plan for implementing technical procedures and special regulations to protect the information within the network from cyberterrorism, as well as using advanced monitoring and warning systems, as well as coordinating with specialized monitors regarding security requirements for the Ministry of Education's network and related channels.

A periodic report will also be submitted to the Director of Information Systems Department. The team is also required to study the needs of the concerned monitors for information security solutions, as well as follow up on information security-related incidents.

Dr. Ali Al-Yaqoub, the Undersecretary of Education and the Director of Information Systems, has reportedly directed the team leader to submit periodic reports on the work completed and those still pending. Additionally, the team is responsible for educating employees about network risks and positive uses of technology.
