Customs Officials Seized Huge Quantity Of Imitation Goods
Customs officers of the General Customs Administration have been exerting efforts to foil all attempts to smuggle illicit items into the country, reports Al- Seyassah daily.
At the beginning of this week, the Customs officers in the North Port foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of imitation goods into the local market. The imitation goods were confiscated and will be destroyed in order to protect intellectual property and curb the smuggling of such items into the local market of the country.
Also, the Customs officers in Shuaiba Port suspected a container that arrived from an Asian country and checked it to discover it contained a huge quantity of mobile phones, wrist watches, batteries and accessories of international brands. A sample of these items were sent for checking in order to determine if they are counterfeit. A customs report was prepared to send the file on the smuggling to the court.
