Customs Bans Entry Of 160 Officers
The head of the union of workers in the General Administration of Customs Ahmed Aqla Al-Anzi said the Kuwait Ports Authority has prevented the entry of 160 Customs officers, except those who follow work for ministries and other government institutions, after imposing fees on parking by a company that has been awarded the contract for collecting fees, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Al-Anzi told the daily there is a prior agreement between KGAC and KPA, under which the latter takes one dinar for each Customs declaration in return for providing Customs services. He added that no Customs declaration was completed and that no shipment had left the port of Shuwaikh, which is the main artery for goods received in the country. Al-Anzi said Minister of Finance Dr Naif Al-Hajjaf, has promised to look into the issue after his return to the country. The Director-General of Customs, Jamal Al-Jalawi, was informed of the incident to find a solution
