CSC Sets Rules For Employee Leave With Patients Abroad

24 June 2024 Kuwait

The Civil Service Commission is issuing a circular concerning the guidelines for implementing the Civil Service Board’s decision to grant a year of leave to an employee accompanying a patient receiving treatment abroad, the Al Anba newspaper reported.

Sources explained that the most important control will be the payment of a full salary throughout the year to alleviate and consider the circumstances of the patient and the companion, with several controls in place.

They added that minor amendments will be made to the current regulations to specify that the employee’s return will occur after a full year, provided they provide evidence of a close relative undergoing treatment abroad. A certain degree of kinship is required for the employee to benefit from this decision.

The sources stated that the circular determines whether it is permissible to disburse both financial and in-kind benefits during the year, including financial allowances, rewards for excellent work, basic allowances such as children’s allowances, and staff disbursement in certain circumstances. It also addresses the employee’s entitlement to add this year to their service upon promotions by selection or when applying for supervisory positions.
