Court Acquitted A Kuwaiti Military Officer And His Friend Who Accused Of Possessing Methamphetamine

The Criminal Court acquitted a Kuwaiti military officer and his friend who were accused of possessing methamphetamine for personal use and driving under the infl uence of drugs. According to the case file, securitymen, while patrolling Fintas, demanded the second suspect to pull over his vehicle which he was driving in violation of the traffic regulations. They discovered that the driver did not have a driving license, and that he and his passenger – the military officer – were in a disoriented state. Securitymen searched them and found methamphetamine in the pockets of the driver who admitted that the drugs were intended for his personal use. During the court session, the defense counsel of the first suspect Lawyer Khawlah Al-Hassawi stressed on the invalidation of the arrest procedures and the subsequent measures due to unavailability of necessary legal justifications to conduct the arrest and search operation.
