Competent And Capable Policewomen Enhance Security
In Kuwait, women were allowed to join the police force because of their ability and competence. In 2009, the decision was made to benefit women in the police force in order to compensate for a deficiency caused by the reluctance of young men to join.
A local Arabic daily reports that 13 years ago, it was taboo to talk about women working in the military. Today, there is a total of 585 female officers in the Ministry of Interior, including female non-commissioned officers and police officers.
A total of 234 female officers and non-commissioned officers work for the Ministry of Interior. Moreover, the Women's Police Institute of the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences has graduated 18 preventive inspectors at the rank of sergeant in the General Fire Force, and 3 batches of National Assembly Guards, 45 of them women, 20 of them officers.
Even though Kuwaiti women's demand for police jobs is not high, entering the police corps enabled them to record another achievement in addition to their previous achievements, and to overcome all the obstacles that they were facing at the time, such as some betting that they could not handle the nature of police work.
Kuwaiti women were always winners in those difficult bets, and were able, within a short period of time, to establish their foothold in this work, and to gain society's respect for their efforts. Security forces are notoriously rough, and society rejected women in the armed forces at the time.
In some cases, the military discipline imposed on men's behavior or performance was also imposed on women's performance, taking into account Kuwaiti traditions and customs when it comes to military discipline.
Women police are expected to take a cautious and disciplined approach to dealing with any developments, and to assume their role in serving citizens and residents alike, and to keep a watchful eye on the safety and security of the country, as well as to treat them with respect and appreciation.
The Interior Ministry has issued the following conditions for women to join the police force:
Conformity to military appearance rules
Make sure you don't use powder and toiletries
Hair coloring, nail painting, and nail growth are prohibited
Social media should not be used without permission
