CITRA Hosts ITU Standardization Sector Workshops
The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) is currently overseeing workshops and meetings of study committees affiliated with the Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) from March 4 to 7.
During the inaugural ceremony, Walid Al-Hassawi, a Member of the Board of Directors of CITRA, underscored the authority's dedication to implementing modern technology-driven projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life and work in Kuwait, as per reports from Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Hassawi emphasized CITRA’s commitment to transitioning Kuwait into a smart nation through the utilization of cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) for connecting infrastructure, services, and citizens. Additionally, the authority is prioritizing the development and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across various sectors including health, education, security, transportation, and energy. CITRA is also harnessing big data for decision-making, performance enhancement, and fostering innovation.
In terms of resource management, CITRA is actively formulating policies, laws, standards, and mechanisms to ensure equitable and efficient distribution, allocation, and regulation of resources such as frequency spectrum and numbering resources. Al-Hassawi emphasized the significance of establishing rules, conditions, and procedures for managing and regulating telecommunications services.
Moreover, CITRA is proactively expanding its network of relationships, agreements, and partnerships with local, regional, and international entities in the realm of communications and information technology. This collaborative effort seeks to bolster cooperation in infrastructure development, services, resources, standards, policies, regulation, training, research, and innovation. Notably, CITRA recently inked a cooperation agreement with the Arab Telecommunications League to bolster coordination and advancement within the Arab world’s communications and information technology sector.
