Belly Dance Training Centre Closed Down
While the Ministry of Commerce and Industry closed the headquarters of one of the private companies, which announced the holding of a belly dance course, while summoning the people in charge of that company, which is based in one of the Jahra area complexes
The dance course was held in a women’s center where men are forbidden to enter but it is considered a violation of Sharia and the culture of society.
Responsible sources in the Ministry of Commerce confirmed to Al-Rai that “the ministry does not issue licenses for belly dancing or any other types of dance,” pointing out that it “grants companies the right to establish health clubs or institutes, while allowing them to conduct activities and exercises of all kinds, provided that the general requirements and laws in force are not violated.
Lawyer Imad Al-Seif explained that “the Ministry of Commerce closed the club, which announced a course to teach belly dancing for women in Jahra, because it violated the purposes of its licensing, which does not include dance education, and the order has nothing to do with defending traditions, values and religion.”
MP Fayez Ghannam Al-Jumhour said, “I had a call with the Minister of Commerce, Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman, and informed him of this violation of the license and values, and he assured me that he will take legal measures with the license holder and prevent the holding of these offers.”
