Authority For Persons With Disabilities Exposes 62 Forged Medical Reports
Mubarak Al-Badah, Acting Deputy Director for the Educational and Rehabilitation Services Sector, also serving as Director of Legal Affairs and official spokesperson for the Authority for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities, unveiled a significant discovery. The authority has uncovered 62 instances of forged medical reports pertaining to disability claims. These fraudulent cases have been promptly forwarded to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
Al-Badah shared with Al-Qabas that since the onset of the current year, a total of 9,612 cases have either been filed against or by the authority. Among these, 4,757 cases are directed against the authority, with resolutions pending across various court levels.
Highlighting the authority's success in legal battles, Al-Badah disclosed, "Out of 4,529 final rulings in cases involving the authority, 3,209 have favored the authority, signifying a success rate exceeding 70%. Noteworthy victories include the annulment of administrative decisions, particularly those contesting medical committee verdicts regarding disability degree reduction or eligibility."
Moreover, Al-Badah emphasized the authority's relentless pursuit of justice in reclaiming unlawfully disbursed funds. To this end, 337 lawsuits have been initiated, targeting individuals or entities responsible for misappropriation, ensuring the recovery of substantial sums in contravention of legal stipulations.
Additionally, Al-Badah underscored the authority's commitment to safeguarding the rights of individuals with disabilities. A dedicated team of advocates monitors potential violations, conducts legal inquiries, and collaborates with law enforcement to enforce penalties for infringements against this vulnerable demographic.
As per recent statistics, the authority has registered 65,592 individuals with disabilities, encompassing various categories, including physical, visual, mental, kinetic, educational, developmental, hearing, psychological, and unspecified disabilities. To address their diverse needs, the authority focuses on providing tailored services, facilitating rehabilitation, education, employment opportunities, financial support, and residential care arrangements in collaboration with relevant state entities.
