Arab Social Ministers Adopt Kuwaiti Proposals

The 70th session of the Executive Office of Arab Social Affairs Ministers Council adopted Kuwait's proposals on boosting philanthropic actions, a Kuwaiti official said Wednesday.

The session, which concluded today in Amman, has adopted one proposal regarding a contest, entitled "to my orphan brother," which aims to strengthen voluntary action in societies, Assistant Undersecretary of Social Affairs and Labor Ministry Sheikha Al-Adwani told KUNA.

The contest's goal is to attain solidarity among society members through sponsoring them, providing them with appropriate environment, and improving their living conditions, said Al-Adwani.

The targeted categories will be elementary, middle, and high-school students from all over the Arab world, she noted, adding that the students will participate in drawing, poetry, and story writing contests.

The event is to be organized and held in April every year to coincide with the Arab Orphans Day celebration, said the Kuwaiti official. The session has also adopted another Kuwaiti proposal on anti-terrorism, which is a part of an Arab work plan's axes to eliminate terror in Arab societies, said Al-Adwani.

The Arab ministers also adopted other Kuwaiti proposal on launching a special report on the elderly category in Arab countries during the next social affairs ministers meeting, due in Kuwait in mid-November, she added.
