Amir Mishal Al-Ahmad Takes Oath As Kuwait's 17th

In a special National Assembly session on Wednesday, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah took the oath, officially becoming the 17th Amir of the State of Kuwait.

During the oath-taking ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Mishal recited the solemn pledge: "I swear by Almighty Allah to respect the Constitution and the laws of the State, to defend the liberties, interests, and properties of the people, and to safeguard the independence and territorial integrity of the country," in accordance with article 60 of the constitution.

The announcement of the passing of the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was made by the Amiri Diwan last Saturday. Following this, the cabinet designated His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as the 17th Amir of Kuwait.
