Al-ghanim Holds Line On Palestine
In light of recent statements of several individuals on normalization of relations between the State of Kuwait and the Zionist entity, Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim urged everyone to refrain from speaking about the national, Amiri, governmental or social stance of Kuwait on the Palestinian issue.
Al-Ghanim asserted that nobody doubts the supportive role played by Kuwait in dealing with the Palestinian issue; and he does not want to see any Israeli, Arab official or Muslim thinking otherwise. He believes there is no need to reaffirm this matter, especially since such individuals do not have a solid foundation to stand on. He pointed out they have a weak following and they were nowhere to be seen when Kuwait exerted efforts to support Palestine, as they emerged only after the recent regional incidents.
Ease
In another development, the parliamentary Work Environment Improvement Committee discussed the proposal to form a committee comprising of representatives from the ministries of Interior, Commerce and Industry that will be tasked to ease the issuance of licenses for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and assist seasonal markets and events. During the meeting, representatives of Kuwait Municipality disclosed the relevant executive regulations will be discussed next month for final revision and approval.
They affirmed that once the executive regulations are approved; carnivals, seasonal markets and events will be licensed so there will no longer be any cancellation or closure. Committee Rapporteur MP Yousef Al-Fadala confirmed that this proposal and several others are aimed at improving the general framework of non-permanent markets and addressing legislative loopholes which led to the cancellation of some carnivals and bazaars. He said the committee proposed allocating Al-Safaat Square as a venue for such events until the executive regulations are approved and availability of other venues.
Furthermore, in a bid to improve the method of training national manpower and decrease the saturation of Kuwaiti job seekers, MP Askar Al-Enizi submitted a proposal to establish the Central Authority for Human Resources and Development. He explained the authority will evaluate training programs to determine if they are feasible and effective in generating the needed expertise. He said the authority will also keep track of international standards for professional qualifications in line with the needs of the local job market, which will then establish a channel of cooperation with the private sector in the management of training centers and institutions, in addition to conducting surveys to identify the needs of the job market.
