Malaysia Announces 30-Day Visa-Free Travel For Indian Visitors Starting December 1

27 November 2023 Kuwait

In a significant development, Malaysia has revealed plans to grant 30 days of visa-free travel to visitors from India, commencing on December 1. This move positions Malaysia as the third Asian nation, following Sri Lanka and Thailand, to facilitate visa-free travel for Indian citizens. Notably, other countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Turkey, and Jordan already enjoy visa exemption privileges in Malaysia.

While the visa exemption is a positive step, Malaysia's Prime Minister emphasizes that it will be contingent upon security clearance. Individuals with a criminal record or deemed to pose a risk of violence will not be eligible for the visa-free travel privilege.

It's worth noting that in 2022, India emerged as Malaysia's 11th largest trading partner, contributing significantly to a total trade value of RM 86.22 billion (USD 19.63 billion). This figure reflects a substantial 23.6 percent increase compared to the recorded trade value in 2021.
