A Top Destination For Skilled Indian Workers Is Saudi Arabia
In a recent update, Union Skill Minister of State, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, informed the Lok Sabha that nearly 14,000 Indians trained at the Skill India International Centres (SIIC) have successfully secured employment in Saudi Arabia between April 2022 and December 2023.
During his announcement on Monday, Minister Chandrasekhar revealed that an impressive number of candidates, with every second one trained under SIIC, found job opportunities abroad during the specified period. Saudi Arabia emerged as the leading destination for skilled Indian professionals, with 13,944 individuals securing jobs. Following closely were Qatar (3,646), the United Arab Emirates (2,832), and the United Kingdom (1,248), making a total of 25,300 candidates gaining employment overseas.
Moreover, Minister Chandrasekhar highlighted the ministry's proactive approach in fostering international collaborations, emphasizing the existence of government-to-government memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with eight countries. These nations include Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Qatar, the UAE, and the UK.
