Syrian Arrested In Visit Visa Fraud

02 August 2022 Crime News

As reported by Al-Anba daily, the General Department of Residency Affairs arrested a Syrian and is looking for another person who represents an unidentified very important person for forging the signature of a high-ranking official in the Ministry of Interior.

The suspects forged the signature to bring an expatriate of a forbidden nationality into the country, according to the daily. People from countries whose entry is subject to approval need to apply for a visit visa with the approval of the Minister of Interior or the Undersecretary.

A security source told the daily that the Residency Affairs Investigations received information that an expatriate attempted to finalize the entry procedure for a Syrian, and that there were suspicions the signature was forged.

The Syrian who applied to complete the transaction, the source said, was arrested and admitted he handed it over to the representative of an "important person", as he described him, and the other accused is being pursued in preparation for referral to the prosecutor's office.
