A Man Is Pardoned After 18 Years On Death Row, But He Dies An Hour Later

During the week, local media reported that an Iranian man who had been on death row for 18 years died of a heart attack after he was granted clemency by the judge in Bandar Abbas.

The 55-year-old man was overjoyed by the court's decision to provide him with a pardon that he died of a heart attack.

The victim's family had been begging for mercy for the past 18 years so he could escape the death penalty.

Upon learning that the victim's parents had pardoned him, the man collapsed and the court subsequently granted him clemency. A few hours later, he was pronounced dead at the hospital following a heart attack.

Murderers in Iran are sentenced to death. The only way to avoid the death penalty is if they receive a pardon from the victim's family.
