8% Decrease In Passenger Traffic At Kuwait Airport Last Year

The Directorate general of Civil Aviation informed that the Kuwait International Airport witnessed a decrease in passenger traffic by 8% in the year 2021 compared to previous year 2020. The aircraft movement increased by 5% and air cargo traffic increased by 8%.

The total number of passengers in the year 2021 amounted to 3,560,280 passengers, compared to 3,875,061 passengers in 2020, Deputy Director-General for Aviation Safety, Air Transport and Aviation Security, Duaij Al-Otaibi said.

The incoming passenger movement amounted to 14,58,163 passengers in 2021, compared to 18,35271 passengers in 2020, while the outbound passenger movement amounted to 2,102,117 passengers, compared to 20,39790 passengers in 2020.

He stated that the total aircraft movement that operated to and from Kuwait International Airport in 2021 amounted to 48,257 flights, compared to 46,062 flights in 2020.

The total air freight volume in 2021 amounted to 2,087,21,162 kilograms, compared to 1,93863,062 kilograms in the year 2020.

He stated that the incoming freight movement in 2021 amounted to 168,900684 kilograms, compared to 16,677,268
