69 Thousand Stroke Cases In 5 Years: Dr Al-awadhi

17 September 2023 Kuwait

From 2017 to 2021, 68,964 stroke cases were recorded, including fatal and non-fatal incidents, according to the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi. Specifically, there were approximately 10,869 cases in 2020 and 12,475 cases in 2021.

As a response to MP Muhalhal Al-Mudhaf's query regarding the possible correlation between the Corona vaccine and an increased risk of blood clots or strokes, which the Al-Jarida daily obtained, Al-Awadhi explained that, based on analysis by international reference organizations and global data, post-vaccine clots are considered rare.

The incidence of blood clotting cases following vaccination is lower than the number of individuals experiencing clotting after contracting the virus, according to recent scientific studies.

Numerous factors can contribute to clotting, including obesity, high blood pressure, cholesterol levels, medical history, and familial history.

According to Al-Awadhi, 2,782,091 individuals received the vaccine from December 24, 2020, to December 31, 2021, and that vaccination continues beyond that date.
