4 Years Jail , Kd 1000 Fine For Kuwaiti Citizen, Acquittal For Another In Drugs Case

22 September 2016 Crime News

The Criminal Court acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen but sentenced another to four year imprisonment, fine of KD 1,000 and withdrawal of drivers’ license in a case filed against them for possessing drugs. According to the case file, securitymen were patrolling when they suspected a vehicle and ordered the driver, who is the second suspect, to pull over. Detecting the smell of alcohol from him, they checked him and found hashish. At the same time, his passenger, who is the first suspect, refused to handover his identification documents and resisted arrest.

Securitymen managed to control him and checked him to find ‘Tremadol’ pills. Public Prosecution accused the first suspect of possessing Tremadol pills for his own use without permission and resisting securitymen while they were on duty. It accused the second suspect of driving under the influence of liquor and drugs and possessing hashish for his own use. Lawyer Faisal Mohammad Al-Otaibi, who represented the first defendant, stressed that the evidences presented by the Public Prosecution against his client are weak and unconvincing. He urged the court to acquit his client based on Article 172 of the Penal Code.
