29,131 Traffic Violations Were Registered Recently
Around 29,131 violations were recorded by authorities, with the impounding of 22 vehicles and 18 motorcycles, and referring 114 traffic law violators to the administration’s custody, 102 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution Office, impounding 11 vehicles required by security and judicial authorities, and arresting 28 persons wanted by the General Administration of Criminal Execution and the Civil Execution Department, Al Jarida reported.
This was during the traffic security campaigns carried out by the Traffic and Operations Sector.
In the details, Al-Jarida reported, quoting a which an informed security source told, Major General Al-Sayegh held a meeting with the leaders of the licensing and operations sector at the General Traffic Department, and demanded that they launch traffic security campaigns against reckless drivers in various area of the country, especially during the rainy season, which usually sees an increase of occurrences of reckless driving that endangers the lives of road users and cause inconvenience to citizens and expats.
The statistics issued by the Traffic Operations Sector revealed that the Traffic Operations Department ranked first in recording the number of violations, which amounted to 6,131, followed by the Hawali Traffic Department with 6080, and the Capital Traffic Department in third place with 5879, and then Jahra Traffic Department with 2,981, followed by the Traffic Department in Al-Ahmadi with 2910, then Farwaniya Governorate with 2909, then Mubarak Al-Kabeer Traffic Department with 1365, and finally Traffic Duty Department with 876 violations.
The statistic also showed that the traffic patrol officers were able to arrest 102 minors driving without a driver’s license, and traffic officers arrested 114 traffic law violators and reckless drivers.
