253,233 Expat Laborers Left Kuwait For Good
There has been an exodus of expats leaving Kuwait, the Kuwait labor market lost 253,233 migrant workers from Jun 2020 to 2021. Private sector was the largest with 205,050 workers and the domestic sector 42,202, while in the government sector 6,981 workers were lost.
Kuwait Society for Human Rights stated in its report that in five months from March to August, Government sector terminated services of 2,089 expats while 10,780 Kuwaiti citizens were appointed in the same period, reports Al Rai. During the third quarter of this year (Jul to Sep), 999 legal consultants were employed, 71 in psychosocial support (51 females, 20 males). There were 69 cases of disputes between employers and workers from these 51 cases were of females and 20 were from males. 48 cases were resolved amicably, while 21 cases were referred to the labor courts.
