25 Expats Including 16 Women Of Different Nationalities Were Arrested For Violating The Residency And Labor Laws
A total of 25 expatriates including 16 women of different nationalities were arrested for violating the residency and labor laws. In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media explained that the General Department for Residency Security Affairs had received information about a house in Ahmadi Governorate which was being used as a shelter for a number of violators of residency law including some with cases filed against them.
A team was immediately formed for investigations. After confirming the information and taking necessary legal measures, the team raided the shelter which they discovered was also being used as an illegal domestic labor office and a vice den. The officers arrested nine men and 16 women from the house. When interrogated, they confessed that they do not work for their sponsors. Officers checked their details and discovered that there were cases filed against many of them.
;The arrested suspects were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. Meanwhile, surprise campaigns by officers from security sector resulted in the arrest of 31 people wanted for various offenses in all six governorates. The suspects were wanted for residency related violations, drugs, alcohol and traffic cases, reports Al- Seyassah daily.
