1297 Vehicles Impounded
As part of efforts being exerted by the General Traffic Department (GTD) in the Interior Ministry to maintain road safety and ensure strict enforcement of traffic regulations, a series of traffic campaigns were carried out in the six governorates from Nov 13-19, 2016. In a press statement, the Public Relations and Security Media General Department revealed these campaigns resulted in the issuance of 39,149 citations for various traffic violations, impounding of 1,297 vehicles and 118 motorbikes, confiscation of 24 vehicles wanted by law as they were used in committing crimes, and referral of 46 individuals to the concerned authority and five expatriates to the Deportation Center. The department affirmed continuation of the campaigns in different parts of the country to guarantee strict compliance with traffic regulations for the safety of road users.
