Woman In Kuwait Gets Life Sentence For Murdering Daughter And Keeping Corpse

28 May 2022 Crime News

Kuwaiti media reported a woman was sentenced to life in prison for killing her daughter and keeping her remains in her house for five years.

It dates back to October last year.

A Kuwaiti woman initially denied any wrongdoing after being arrested, saying that she had found her daughter dead on the ground, was afraid of legal punishment so had not reported her death and had kept the corpse.

One of the defendant's sons testified, however, that his mother had locked his sister in the house and maltreated her.

It was her desire to restrain her daughter's behavior that led her to deny she had intended to kill her.

She denied the daughter access to even basic needs and education by locking her up in a small room in the family's house since 2012.

Media reports said her body was found decomposed after being placed inside a toilet.

She installed ventilators and welded the windows to ensure the smell of the dead body was not carried outside over the five years.

Al Qabas newspaper quoted a source close to the case as saying that the criminal court's ruling was in accordance with the law.

Lawyers for the victim's family have indicated they will appeal the ruling and seek the death penalty. There is no information on the age of the woman or the victim.
