Woman Gets 15 Years In Prison For Misusing Her Identity As An Impersonator

03 November 2022 Crime News

As reported by Al-Seyassah daily, the Criminal Court sentenced a woman to 15 years in prison for impersonating a female citizen and obtaining loans worth KD100,000 from banks and others. Case files indicate that the accused applied for a new civil identification card in the name of the victim to replace the allegedly lost one. As a result, she obtained huge loans - up to KD100,000.

According to attorney Jarrah Al-Enezi, the victim was surprised when individuals and banks filed financial claims against her. Even though she had not committed any crime, various steps were taken against her, including arrest, summons, travel ban and seizure. As a result, her lawyer filed a forgery case and requested that the loan documents be referred to the Criminal Evidence Department to prove that her signature was forged. Based on an investigation and verification of the signature by examining the banks' surveillance cameras, the authorities identified the criminal.
