21 December 2021 Business

Wood Group, which is based in the United Kingdom, has completed the revision of the engineering and design plans for the long-awaited petroleum products marketing depot for Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) in Mutla’a, Jahra Governorate, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting news published on MEED Magazine. According to the report, the revision was submitted in October — while the main tender is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2022.

The cost of the project is estimated at $800 million, including the establishment of new pumping facilities at Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery, installation of pipelines across the country starting from the refinery, construction of a warehouse in the local market, installation of security and firefighting systems, and building oil derivatives storage tanks. The project has been delayed since the completion of feasibility studies in 2013. The initial engineering and design plans were completed in 2015 — before KNPC decided to revise the original design. The Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery was renovated recently as part of the $16 billion clean fuel project, then KNPC put the final units for the project in September.
