Two Kuwaitis Jailed In Narcotics Case As Officer’s Sentence Reduced
The Court of Appeal reviewed the case of an officer from the Ministry of Interior who was previously sentenced to 14 years in prison for involvement in drug trafficking. After a thorough examination of the evidence, the court amended the verdict, reducing the officer’s sentence to 10 years. Furthermore, the court acquitted him of charges related to smuggling hashish by sea.
However, the court upheld the convictions of two Kuwaiti nationals involved in the case. One was sentenced to 15 years in prison, while the other received a four-year sentence. Additionally, a third individual, believed to be of Iranian nationality, was handed a life sentence for his role in drug-related activities.
This decision comes after an extensive legal process, during which the Ministry of Interior worked diligently to apprehend those responsible for smuggling narcotics into the country. Among those arrested was a "Lieutenant Colonel" within the Ministry of Interior, who abused his authority and position within the organization to facilitate the trafficking of large quantities of illicit substances.
