Travel Ban On 4 Senior Officials From The Ministries Of Interior And Finance
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the file of ‘misappropriation of funds’ believed to be about KD 32 million, reports Al-Qabas daily. A well-informed source said Attorney- General, Counselor Dirar Al-Assousi, has slapped a travel ban on four senior officials from the ministries of Interior and Finance. The daily added, more names are expected to be added to the travel ban list over the next few days. The source pointed out the travel ban is a proactive decision for interrogation, pointing out the Prosecution has already summoned a number of witnesses including employees from the Ministry of Interior.
Foul play seen: The Court of Appeals presided over by Judge Ibrahim Al-Obeid has officially informed the Attorney-General that there is a suspicion about misappropriation of judicial documents related to the case of 159 citizens, reports Al-Rai daily. The lower court had earlier refrained from issuing a verdict and ordered the defendants to return the money which they had allegedly received from the Manpower and Government Restructuring Program illegally. The court discovered the case papers related to Public Prosecutions investigations were missing and in some cases the original documents were not in the case file and in others some documents were destroyed
