Thwart Attempt To Smuggle Cigarettes Across The Southern Border

Yesterday evening, the Criminal Investigation Department officers foiled an attempt to smuggle 38,000 cigarette cherries and large quantities of flavors that are used in electronic cigarettes, after two Egyptian expatriates tried to exit them through the Salmi border crossing heading to Saudi Arabia, after they hid the smuggled goods inside secret stores designed In two truck trailers.

In the details that an informed security source told Al-Jarida, confidential information reached the Criminal Investigation Department’s officers that two Egyptian expatriates were working to buy very large quantities of cigarettes and e-cigarette flavors from the local market, so they were put under surveillance to ensure that the information was correct and the reason for the Combine them with large quantities of tobacco.

The source added that the detectives, after monitoring and collecting information, concluded that the Egyptians were working as truck drivers to transport goods outside the country, and that they intended to smuggle this large quantity of cigarettes and electronic cigarette flavors out of the country with the aim of trafficking in them. He stated that the detectives managed to seize the two trucks before they left the Salmi border crossing and arrested the drivers, noting that after the search of the two trucks, secret caches were found inside them, containing 38 thousand cherries of various cigarettes, in addition to large quantities of electronic cigarette flavor
