Syrian Kidnaps Himself, Demands Ransom Of Syp30m From Parents
Local media reports that a 20-year-old Syrian man kidnapped himself and demanded a ransom of 30 million Syrian pounds (Dh207,000) from his parents.
The ministry of interior reported that a young man claimed to be the kidnapper of the boy and asked for 30 million Syrian pounds for the return of his son to his parents.
Upon learning of the incident, the father immediately contacted the criminal investigation department (CID) in Latakia. The department launched an investigation into the kidnapping.
As part of a joint effort with his parents, CID officers set up a trap for the kidnappers. CID officers lured the kidnappers to a location where they could pay the ransom.
It turned out, however, that the kidnappers themselves were the kidnappers and that all the incident was a ruse to get money. Due to family disputes and the need for money, the kidnapped man made up the whole event and pretended the whole thing never happened.
Because of some family issues, he admitted he fabricated the incident. His mother received a WhatsApp message from a new number he had used to book a hotel in Latakia.
