Sri Lanka Temporarily Bans Entry From Gulf Countries

Sri Lankan authorities have announced that travelers from any Gulf country will not be allowed to enter Sri Lanka, after more than 100 people tested positive for Covid-19 upon their arrival in Sri Lanka.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka confirmed that the strict travel ban will be imposed on Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait from July 1, 2021, and will remain in effect until July 12.

In a related context, Khaleej Times reported that Emirates Airlines, the main carrier of Dubai, announced on Tuesday that travelers wishing to travel to Sri Lanka from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will not be accepted for travel as of June 30.
