Slain Filipina's Body Will Be Flown To Philippines
After Kuwaiti government authorities permitted the release and shipment of the body to the Philippines, the remains of a slain Filipino overseas worker (OFW) in Kuwait, Jullebee Cabilis Ranara, will be flown home.
On January 21, 2023, a charred body with a smashed head and signs of alleged torture was found on Salmi road in Kuwait by Ranara, 34, a married mother of four. Initial autopsy report showed that the victim was pregnant. The 17-year-old Kuwaiti suspect who confessed to the crime is now in jail.Â
Ranara arrived in Kuwait in July 2022 and worked as a household service worker for a Kuwaiti family in Jahra.Â
Ranara's death certificate from the Kuwait Ministry of Health, Forensic Department, indicates that she suffered fractures to her skull, face, lower jaw, and brain. Death is attributed to injuries.
According to Jose Cabrera III, Philippine Charge d'Affaires to Kuwait, arrangements have been made to ship the body, which is expected to arrive in Manila on Friday, January 27, 2023.
The Kuwaiti government's cooperation in releasing and allowing the shipment of Ms. Ranara's remains is greatly appreciated, especially since her family is eagerly awaiting her return," said Cabrera.
After arriving in the Philippines, government agencies will assist the family of Ranara in claiming the remains and making other arrangements.
In coordination with Kuwaiti authorities, the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait closely monitors the case. It has also assigned a lawyer to take on the case of Ranara.
Cabrera stated that when the forensic examination and analysis of evidence is complete and forwarded to the prosecution, the Embassy will request access to the results and findings.
