Robot To Fight ‘perilous’ Fires To Protect Lives Of Firemen In High-risk Operations

As part of the efforts exerted by the General Fire Department efforts to develop mechanisms and equipment in firefighting and rescue operations, the Director of the General Fire Department Lieutenant General Khalid Rakan Al-Mekrad saw a live experiment on the latest robot fire-fighting equipment, which will soon be introduced into service which will greatly help ensure the safety of firemen during some high-risk incidents, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily quoting fire sources said the robot is operated by a remote control from long distances and contains 4 different cameras including a thermal camera, in addition to a mobile water ejector that can withstand high water pressure and toxic gas detector designed with the highest degree of self-protection complete with all aspects and can be used externally or inside buildings.

It is noteworthy to mention the fire department is in possession of the robot for more than a year and has been used effectively in more than a real accident, and after the success of this experiment the department has purchased the latest models in preparation to induct these robots into service.

The robot experiment was attended by Deputy Director General of the fire control sector, Major-General Jamal Al-Balhais. Meanwhile, the Public Relations and Media Department at the General Fire Department has launched its awareness project under the name ‘Kuwait Aman’ to promote awareness among citizens and residents and urging them to install smoke detectors in their homes.

The same goes for the motorists said the Directorate General of Public Relations and Security Information at the Ministry of Interior.

The project was launched at the Citizens Service Centers of the Ministry of Interior, General Directorate of Nationality, Travel Documents, General Directorate of Traffic, Public Authority for Civil Information and the Amiri Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Prevention Sector at Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) launched an extensive inspection campaign in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Wednesday morning, led by Deputy Director General of the sector Major General Khalid Abdullah Fahad, reports Al-Anba daily.

The campaign resulted in warning a number of establishments that violated the preventive requirements of administrative closure because of serious violations which could harm lives and property. Abdullah stressed that the sector is continuing its inspection campaigns as directed by Director General of KFSD Lieutenant General Khalid Al-Makrad who supports what the sector is doing to ensure the safety of citizens and expatriates. Therefore, instructions were issued not to tolerate or manipulate any aspect of the violations, he added.
