Remains Of 19 Prisoners, Missing Persons Identified, To Be Laid To Rest Sunday

The remains of 19 Kuwaiti prisoners and missing persons that were brought from Iraq were identified through genetic fingerprint analysis by the General Department of Criminal Evidences of the Ministry of Interior, on the remains

The sources told Al-Rai the 19 — 18 Kuwaitis and a bedoun – have been declared Kuwaiti martyrs. These men were taken prisoner by the Iraqi authorities during the invasion of Kuwait in 1990, and their remains were brought from Iraq, among the remains of the martyrs that had been identified in November 2020 and January and March 2021.

The sources added after extensive efforts information was obtained regarding two burial sites in Iraq and they were examined by the Iraqi technical team under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the remains of these prisoners were exhumed.

The sources said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was to inform the families of these prisoners, today, Thursday morning, to complete the burial procedures next Sunday.
