'rapid Intervention' Force Forms To Monitor Child Abuse Cases
According to Al-Qabas daily, the Supreme Council for the Family and the Child Protection Office of the Ministry of Health investigated a complaint filed by the grandmother of two girls whose mother beat them and literally terrorized them. According to the report received by the Protection Office on the 6th of this month, "a citizen assaulted her two daughters, ages 4 and 7, threatening to burn them if they revealed the abuse."

The Minister of Women and Childhood Affairs Mai Al-Baghli said she was investigating the incident and its circumstances, and that she had instructed the Secretariat of the Family Affairs Council to communicate with the case immediately and to take legal action in cooperation with the concerned authorities in the state regarding the incident.
A "rapid intervention" team, which consists of competent authorities, was formed by Al-Baghli to monitor abuse and violence against children, and to seek all expertise and energies through psychological rehabilitation programs, in order to assist those who have been victims of violence, abuse or harassment. Further, the Council pointed out that it communicated with the case and took the necessary measures, while the Child Protection Office confirmed that measures were taken to protect the two girls, including submitting a report to the Juvenile Protection Department for investigation and research to follow up on any legal issues related to the report.
According to the office's Twitter account, a specialized team assessed the two girls' condition in a hospital and followed up on them. Al-Qabas learned that the Family Council, through the Fener Listening Center, was sheltering two cases of domestic violence and providing them with psychological and health services. The council said one of the two cases was discharged yesterday after being provided with safety and having the legal process completed, while the other remained in the center under specialist care.
