Parliament Speaker Will Not Hold Session Wednesday

12 May 2020 Kuwait

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim declared on Tuesday he would not hold a planned session on Wednesday because of the government absence. In a statement at Abdullah Al-Salem Hall, the parliament speaker said he would be present at the house hall tomorrow, however, he would not hold the session due to the government absence.

Al-Ghanim said he had received a message from His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah requesting that Wednesday’s session be delayed until after Eid Al-Fitr. The speaker indicated that he invited MPs to gather at the parliament bureau tomorrow to hold consultations on a number of topics namely supervision on government contracts during the coronavirus crisis. Al-Ghanim hoped that only a small number of MPs would show up tomorrow because the broad session would not convene.
