Parliament Is Formally Dissolved In Kuwait

02 August 2022 Kuwait

A decree issued by Kuwait's state news agency KUNA dissolved parliament formally on Tuesday.

According to His Highness Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, "to rectify the political scene involving lack of harmony and cooperation, as well as conflicts, personal interests, inability to accept others, practices and behavior that undermine national unity, it was necessary to appeal to the people who represent destiny, extension, survival, and existence to correct their paths in a way that serves their supreme interests."

Upon an Amiri Decree dated November 15, 2021, he was delegated some constitutional powers by Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad.

Kuwait's crown prince announced last month that he would dissolve the parliament and call early elections.
