Municipal Council Election Results For 2022

The results of the winners for the 13th Legislative Session in Kuwait's eight districts were revealed on Saturday by the judges of the major bodies in charge of the Municipal council election 2022.

On Kuwait State Television, the judges revealed the following ten winners and members of the new municipal council: Hasan Kamal received 2,755 votes in the first constituency and was declared the winner.

Abdullah Al-Mehri, the winner of the second constituency, received 4,331 votes. Fahad Al-Abduljader received 2,510 votes in the third constituency and was declared the winner.

Saud Al-Kanderi received 5,561 votes in the fourth electoral district.

Nasser Al-Jadaan received 5,681 votes in the fifth electoral district.

Fuhaid Al-Muwaizri received 5,235 votes in the sixth electoral district.

Abdullah Al-Enezi received 9,893 votes in the ninth electoral district.

Nasser Al-Kafeef took home the municipality seat after receiving 13,401 votes in the ninth constituency.

According to local legislation guiding the voting process, candidates in the seventh and tenth constituencies secured an automatic win because they were the only nominated candidates in their respective seats.

Khaled Al-Mutairi is from the seventh constituency, while Nassar Al-Azmi is from the tenth.

The municipal council has 16 members who serve for four years; ten are elected per the 35-1962 statute, while six are appointed by decree within 15 days of the election results being announced.

Prior to the tallying of results, polling stations across Kuwait's eight voting constituencies closed at 8:00 p.m. for the Municipal Council elections.

36 candidates, including one woman, applied for the position, with some of them being ushered in by 438,283 registered voters. - KUNA
