Mps Raised Some Questions Concerning The Appointments Based On Decisions Taken By The Former Moh
A number of MPs raised some questions concerning the appointments made in August 2017 based on decisions taken by the former minister of Health Dr Jamal Al-Harbi, reports Al-Rai daily. The MPs sent their questions to the new Health Minister Dr Bassel Hamoud with hopes that he will study the matter.
They affirmed that the decisions taken by Al-Harbi are in violation of the laws and regulations of the Civil Service Commission (CSC). It is worth mentioning that Dr Al- Harbi had issued several decisions which included making major changes to the positions of the directors of departments, deputy-directors of hospitals, supervisors at the central departments, heads and secretaries of medical centers and heads of nursing departments.
In this regard, MP Nasser Al-Dousari called for forming a committee to review the file of the recent appointments at the ministry, indicating that many senior officials and employees were disappointed about the decisions as they were based on favoritism and “wasta” (infl uence) and not on the efficiency of employees and the regulations of the Cabinet and CSC. He stressed the need for the committee to include at least representative of CSC.
Deputy Army Chief of Staff General Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah confirmed Bedoun will be enlisted in the Kuwaiti army provided Article (29) of the Army Law is amended and approved by the National Assembly, reports Al-Rai daily. Al-Nawaf told the daily the Ministry of Defense has already received applications and is in the process of preparing files, security and medical checks. However, the files are ready but what is required in the approval for the amendment to the law by the National Assembly. However, Al-Nawaf denied reports that other Arab nationalities are accepted by the ministry to join the army even if the mother of the applicant is Kuwaiti with the exception of Gulf citizens. However, they need the approval of the Minister of Defense as defined by the law.
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh said the request of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) for authorization to collect Zakat from cooperative societies and use the money for charitable activities is still under study, reports Al-Jarida daily. According to the minister, KRCS has wonderful history in charitable activities; affirming it is one of the best charity organizations in the country. She stressed that the ministry is keen on supporting activities of KRCS such as providing assistance to countries and individuals around the world.
Nine Kuwaiti joint stock companies — eight closed companies and one holding company — held extraordinary general assemblies recently to approve their dissolution and liquidation, reports Al-Rai daily. According to the minutes of the general assemblies of these companies, the closed joint stock companies include a real estate company, a construction contracting company, two media services companies, three logistic services companies, stores and transportation company, and a food company.
