Moh Extended Contract Of Air Ambulance
Ministry of Health has obtained initial approvals of the relevant monitoring authorities for the extension of the contract for providing air ambulance and medical evacuation services – a contract that was signed between the ministry and a local body for a duration of six months starting from the beginning of September, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to informed sources, the contract extension went through the Central Agency for Public Tenders before it was referred to the State Audit Bureau, which called on the ministry to clarify some of the points and observations that were missed in the project that was launched in April 2015.
The ministry responded to all the queries of the State Audit Bureau. It prepared a new tender concerning air ambulance services, and referred it to the monitoring authorities recently to ensure the continuation of the service after the current contract’s extension period expired. The new tender includes new items in terms of the use of bigger helicopters with larger capacity for beds, doctors and paramedics.
The sources stressed the importance of the project in serving the sick and injured, especially in remote areas, farms and chalets in the north and south of the country, affirming that air ambulances contribute to rapid arrival of cases to the emergency departments of hospitals They revealed that there are currently seven helipads distributed to all the hospitals, affirming that air ambulances have dealt with 496 reports and 97 cases of medical evacuation last year.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Dr Bassel Al-Sabah has decided to organize medical services team for the Kuwaiti pilgrimage mission starting from next year. According to the decision, head of the Medical Services team of the pilgrimage mission will be chosen from one of the consulting doctors of hospitals, specialized centers or healthcare centers for two consecutive years only.
The deputy head of the medical services team will be one of the administrative staff members occupying supervisory positions from all sectors of the ministry based on the nomination of the undersecretary of Ministry of Health. The decree stipulated that the medical team should include 24 doctors, 26 nurses, 16 pharmacists, six members from the Health Protection Department, six members from Medical Emergency Department, six members from Medical Equipment Department, 20 administrators and six laborers.
The members of the delegation are not allowed to continue with the delegation for more than two years. In addition, Director of Public Relations and Media at Ministry of Health Meshal Al-Enezi announced that the ministry will host five doctors in August 2019, adding that they will be from various medical specialties such as brain surgery, neck surgery, heart surgery, colon and rectal cancer.
