Ministry Of Information Suspended Female Newscaster For Telling Her Colleague You Are Not Beautiful
Ministry of Information has suspended a female newscaster for telling her colleague “You are not beautiful” during the coverage of the Municipal Council elections few days ago, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The daily quoting a source from the News and Political Programs Section of the ministry said the newscaster has since been referred to Legal Affairs Department for investigation.
He explained the suspension is temporary pending the conclusion of investigation and final decision of the Legal Affairs Department. He said the News and Political Programs Department prefers the issue goes through the normal procedure without interference.
He pointed out that the department usually suspends immediately whoever among the newscasters who violate ethics until the relevant administrative or legal investigation is concluded.
He declared the code of conduct book for newscasters prohibits a staff from uttering vulgar statements, in addition to lateness and absence. He stated “what happened to the newscaster on KTV 1 was a mere slip of tongue, because she is basically a disciplined educator and did not mean to insult or attack”.
