Mega Projects Implementation Vital For Kuwait 30 Vision
Director General of Public Authority for Road and Land Transportation (PARLT) Eng Ahmad Al-Hassan affirmed Wednesday the importance of “mega” projects which the authority is currently supervising with the aim of implementing the NewKuwait 2035 vision. On the sidelines of the inauguration of an exhibition on the authority’s projects at the Avenues Mall which will continue until July 28, Eng. Al-Hassan said the most prominent project is the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Causeway with its Doha and Subbiya links, as it is the longest causeway in the world with length of about 43.14 kms.
He explained that the Sheikh Jaber Causeway is one of the major projects being executed by the authority. The country counts on its execution for achieving the desired renaissance in the northern region including the establishment of residential cities and investment areas that will create alternative sources of income.
This project is one of the most important projects included in the state development Plan. It is the longest sea bridge in the world, and it will contribute to shortening the distance between Kuwait City and Subbiya from the 104 kms covered by motor vehicles in about 90 minutes to 37.5 kilometers that can be covered in less than 30 minutes.
Eng. Al-Hassan highlighted that the projects being pursued by the authority include the metro and railway project, adding that the authority has been coordinating with various bodies in Kuwait and the Gulf Partnership Authority in this regard. He revealed that the number of road projects particularly related to the development of roads and intersections has reached 90. Out of these, 16 projects have been completed, and the execution of 23 projects is ongoing. Preparations are ongoing for signing contracts for implementation of 13 projects, and there are 38 tenders to be floated in the coming years.
