Many Street Vendors Arrested In Raids
In cooperation with the security authorities the Department of Hygiene of the Kuwait Municipality of the Farwaniya Governorate raided makeshift markets in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Hassawi and arrested a number of street vendors, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added, the raid which lasted many hours cleaned the entire area and took into custody several people who had built makeshift markets on government property in violation of the law.
The Municipality also issued more than 25 citations for lack of cleanliness and confiscated tons of vegetables and fruits and waste.
In this context, a Municipality official told the daily, the hygiene department had to seek the support of the Ministry of Interior to control these markets and arrest violators of residence and labor laws. He added that the municipality seeks to involve other government bodies, including the Public Authority for Manpower, and the ministries of Social Affairs and Commerce, to realize the plan ‘Clean Jleeb’ especially since the Municipality does not grant any license to sell on the roads or on the pavements.
