Kuwaitization Of The Judicial System

06 November 2022 Kuwait

In response to their request to postpone the selection of trainees for promotion to rank officers, a number of MPs praised the positive response of the Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Sabah. To ensure that all applicants are given a fair shot at completing the requirements, and the largest number of Kuwaiti youths can apply, the requirements must be met in accordance with the principle of equal opportunity.

Khalid Al-Otaibi, Muhammad Hadi Al-Hewaila, Soud Al-Asfour, Hani Shams, Abdullah Fehad, Shuaib Al-Muwaizri and Khalil Al-Saleh are among the MPs mentioned. Another development is the criticism of the decision to accept only 60 new Kuwaiti public prosecutors by MPs Adel Al-Damkhi and Khalil Al-Saleh. Increasing this number would meet the demands on the one hand and contribute to implementing the Kuwaitization policy on the other. Kuwaitization of the judicial authority should begin with increasing the number of public prosecutors, according to Al-Damkhi. The fact that many excellent graduates are rejected from jobs after years of waiting is unacceptable, he said.

The Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee will meet on Sunday to discuss some bills and lay out its plan for the coming period. On the agenda for the committee's meeting is a request to lift the parliamentary immunity of MP Hamed Al- Bazzali, who is involved in Case No. 2010/2022 filed at Kuwait City Public Prosecution. Since the National Assembly has approved the bill on amending Articles 98 and 97 of the law on its establishment; such that bills will be referred directly to the concerned committees instead of being referred first to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee; the latter must review its priorities and lay down its new plan. On Sunday, the Health Affairs Committee will determine its priorities and discuss some issues.
