Kcci Submits Proposals To Solve 60’s Issue
The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has put before His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled more than one way out to amend the decision of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) to ban work permits for non-graduate expatriates who are sixty years and above, who according to PAM must pay 2,000 dinars fee to renew their residency.
In this regard, the Al-Rai daily has learned the KCCI president, Muhammad Al-Saqr, has asked the Prime Minister to personally intervene to amend the decision as soon as possible, and “reduce the fee for those covered by the decision and limiting the decision to newcomers and not applying it to those who already hold the work permits.
Al-Saqr explained the segment covered by the ban “has refined its expertise and developed its capabilities in the Kuwaiti labor market, and the country that invested in this refinement and development still has the right to utilize it, for years to come, because it is the return on this investment.”
