Jordanian Baby Found Alive In Old Well

02 March 2022 Crime News

In Irbid, northern Jordan, an unborn baby girl was discovered alive in an old well, local media reported.

A group of tourists heard an infant crying nearby as they camped near a well. They found the baby after hearing it crying. The girl was pulled from the hole and police were called. The baby was found in the well wrapped in clothes.

The police took the baby to a hospital and then transferred it to a childcare facility. Its condition is stable.

Apparently abandoned in the old dry well, the infant was believed to have been born out of wedlock by her mother who was engaged in an illicit relationship at the time.

In Jordan, abandoned children are called children of unknown parents when they are found abandoned in the streets, in front of mosques or in desert areas. Childcare houses provide special care for such children.
