Is Returning To Total Curfew In Kuwait A Possibility?

14 February 2021 Kuwait

Amidst the discussions to impose a partial ban in Kuwait to curb the rising number of coronavirus cases, questions arose about the possibility of returning to total curfew in the country, as happened on 10 May last year, Al-Rai reported.

Competent sources confirmed to the daily that compared to the circumstances last year, the data suggests that the current situation is much different. Sources explained that the most prominent difference is the percentage of positive cases compared to the number of swab tests. During May of last year between 19.2 and 28.8 percent of the total swabs taken were positives. While currently, the corona positive percentage ranges between 9 and 11.2, as per the data recorded in the last 5 days.

Friday, Kuwait recorded 851 new infections or 9.3 out of the total number of swabs.

Another prominent difference is the presence of a plan of action to deal with the epidemic. The health measures imposed have made Kuwait better prepared to deal with the crisis. The sources also pointed out that there Kuwait has also launched the vaccination campaign.
