The Directorate-General of Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry said as part of the security efforts pursued by the Ministry of Interior sectors to maintain security, the General Administration of Residency Affairs Investigations Department recently raided three fake domestic workers hiring offices and arrested scores of residence law violators, reports Al-Jarida daily. The daily said the offices were run by three Asians and a majority of the residence law violators are believed to be of Asian nationalities. The raid came as part of the ongoing campaigns to arrest residence law violators in all governorates.
The administration said during interrogation with the violators the officers learned that some of them had escaped from their sponsors for various reasons, many of them were reported absconders by their employers, while some of them said they were lured by other Asians to leave their employers and make fast money after promises of finding employment for them on hourly basis. All those arrested have been referred to the competent authorities for necessary legal measures to be taken against them. The Directorate General of Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry has called on the citizens and residents not to employ domestic workers if they are not under their sponsorship but to report to the authorities such workers on ministry telephone numbers – 97288200, 25582555 and 97288211.
