Increase In Hospital Occupancy; Situation Still Under Control

While the daily Covid cases is nearing to 5000 in the country, Kuwait is also witnessing an increase in hospital occupancy.

The rate of admissions to Covid wards increased significantly during the past few days as cases doubled 5 times in 8 days. From the 40 admission on January 5th, the Covid ward admission reaches 200 cases on Jan 12th.

The cases in intensive care unit also witnessed a remarkable increase during the same period, from 7 to 17 cases, which in turn indicates an increase of about 143 percent.

Even though the number of cases in Covid wards and ICU are still in control, the percentage of increase is much higher. Compare to the previous waves of epidemic, the hospital occupancy is very minimal and is easily manageable by the health system in the country. However the authorities warned against complacency as the continued increase in the spread of the virus leads to an increase in hospital admissions.

Adopting the preventive measures is the only way to cross this stage and everyone have a joint responsibility for the same, health sources said.
